Overview

Design & Construct of a waste transfer facility

Lipman constructed a Waste Transfer Facility, where putrescible waste will be received, compacted and then loaded onto rail wagons from where it will be transported to the Veolia Woodlawn Facility for further processing or placed in landfill. The key elements of the project include:

  • Structural steel framed transfer building – area approximately 3,500 m2
  • Office and other staff amenities
  • On site detention and rainwater harvesting
  • High strength external concrete hardstand – area approximately 12,500 m2
  • High strength and leachate resistant concrete mixes developed
  • Concrete “push walls” within transfer building
  • Construction of weighbridges
  • Odour control mechanical exhaust system
  • Leachate capture and containment system
  • Protection of existing High Voltage transmission cables within ground using TSB material
  • Demolition of existing structures
  • Civil and stormwater works to contaminated ground with high water table
  • Preparation works for new rail sidings
