The successful delivery of a modern two storey sports facility and underground car park designed to elevate both educational and community sporting experiences. Constructed adjacent to the existing St Ives High School Hall, the new building forms the second stage of development on the site and completes an integrated complex featuring four full size indoor sports courts. The project also included extensive landscaping works and the careful relocation and replacement of existing sports infrastructure, ensuring that two batting practice nets and a long jump pit – lost due to construction -were reinstated to maintain the school’s active sporting programs.

A key requirement for the client was for the new centre to seamlessly connect with the Stage 1 hall, creating a cohesive precinct that enhances functionality for both school and community use. The facility will be jointly operated by Ku ring gai Council and the NSW Department of Education, reflecting its dual role as a shared community asset and a vital extension of the school’s sporting facilities.

Throughout the project, Lipman collaborated closely with the NSW Department of Education to embed best practice sustainability principles in both the design and construction processes. This commitment was reflected in initiatives aimed at reducing energy and water consumption, lowering waste generation, and minimising the overall demand on natural resources. The result is a contemporary sports centre designed not only for performance and durability but also for long term environmental responsibility.
