Overview
Chimpanzee Exhibit at Taronga Zoo
The refurbishment of the existing Chimpanzee Exhibit at Taronga Zoo for the Taronga Conservation Society Australia. The project involved the demolition and refurbishment of the Chimpanzee Nighthouse – the demolition of the existing boardwalk with the construction of a new viewing platform and viewing shelter adjacent to the refurbished moat. The ‘open paddock’ area has five 10m high ‘climbing structures’ made out of structural steel and timber. The project has a stainless steel mesh ‘aviary’ structure which forms the separation enclosure to house the chimpanzees.
