Cadets, mentors, and team members headed to @Our Big Kitchen (OBK) in Bondi for a morning of cooking, chopping, and enthusiastic taste-testing. Each group was handed a mystery ingredient, fresh produce, and a single brief: make 50 vegetarian meals. No recipe.
Three hours later, the team had collectively cooked and packed 300 meals, all of which were distributed before they left the building.
A huge thanks to Gemma for pulling the day together, and to Chef Dave, George, and the OBK team for keeping us on track.
OBK has been operating out of Bondi since 2005, producing over 250,000 meals a year for people across Sydney facing food insecurity, including the aged, single parents, and the working poor. With 1 in 5 families going without food each day in Australia, every meal made a real difference.
