To mark the Ireland vs Japan Test Match in Newcastle, Lipman commissioned a series of custom-made commemorative retro rugby balls celebrating the historic occasion, and put them to work supporting grassroots rugby in the Hunter region.
The balls were used to raise funds for Hunter Rugby. Two of the sport’s biggest names signed them for us.
Michael Leitch, Japan rugby legend and former captain with over 100 Test caps, including leading Japan to one of the greatest upsets in rugby history against South Africa at the 2015 Rugby World Cup, signed the balls before taking the field.
Dan Sheehan, Ireland’s touring captain and one of the world’s premier hookers with more than 40 Test appearances, also signed the commemorative balls, helping create a lasting memento of a memorable day for Newcastle rugby.
At Lipman, we’ve always believed in investing in people as much as places. Supporting local clubs reflects who we are – strengthening communities, backing local talent, and contributing to something bigger than ourselves.
