Works are progressing strongly on the Guildford Aquatic Centre Upgrade – an exciting project set to deliver a modern, high‑quality community facility for the community.
Since taking possession of the site in early September, the team has moved swiftly from demolition of the former pool complex into full construction mode. The new centre will feature a 25‑metre indoor pool housed within a structural steel‑framed pool hall wrapped in a high‑level Danpal façade, as well as a 25‑metre outdoor pool shaded by a purpose‑designed pergola structure.
Additional upgrades include expanded concourse areas, new staff and public amenities, reception and viewing spaces, changerooms, wet areas, plantrooms, storage facilities, a suspended roof slab, splash play elements and outdoor showers – all set within a fully landscaped site with improved access and new parking to the north.
The project is continuing to progress well, with several key milestones recently achieved across the site. The indoor and outdoor pool structures have been completed and have successfully passed their water testing requirements, while the structural steel and Kingspan roofing for the Indoor Pool Hall have also been installed, marking significant progress in the building’s superstructure. The final pour of the main building slab is scheduled for this week, which will enable works across the slab to progress, supporting the achievement of further project milestones.
This new facility will play a vital role in supporting health, recreation and community life in Guildford for years to come. Congratulations to the project team and partners for their commitment and momentum to date.
