The Sutherland Courthouse Upgrade involved the complete building and services refurbishment of the Ground Level and part refurbishment of the Basement and Level 1. Both the public and staff areas were upgraded, including new toilets, new office area, extension of the Domestic Violence Room, a new Call Over Court (Court 6) and new interview rooms. The existing 5 courtrooms received new carpet and an upgrade to the fire detection system.

The existing security system was upgraded to fall in line with the significant layout changes. Structural repairs were carried out on the existing building, including the installation of a number of structural steel underpinning beams to cater for the uneven settlement of the building that was clearly evident by way of the significant cracking throughout.
