Anglicare St James Chapel – Celebrate the Anticipated Spire Installation
October 16, 2018
A momentous occasion for the Anglicare Castle Hill residents and staff as they celebrated the anticipated spire installation on Monday morning for their new Chapel.
“As we get to the pointy end of the St James Chapel project, it was great to see the spire finally getting lifted onto the building. With both a crowd of residents and the crane crew braving the rain and late wind, the spire came together as the crowning piece on what has become a good looking project. A cheer went up just before lunch as the top half of the spire was dropped into place, answering the question we’ve been getting from the residents for weeks, of when will the spire be installed.”
There is also an old bell that was salvaged out of the old chapel which will be situated within the landscape area and supported by a cantilevered steel structure. The bell weighs in at half a tonne and has a rich history which dates back to WW2 where it was shot on the cliffs of Dover.
The residents of the village have been very intrigued by the Chapel build with the resident action committee walking the job monthly and providing great feedback.
