MLC Senior School hitting milestones
May 07, 2018
The MLC Senior School Project will be the latest edition to the current MLC Girls School spanning over four levels and a basement. The levels consist of classrooms, collaborative learning spaces, science labs, a library, dance studios and storage space in the basement. The basement also has an amphitheater which can be viewed through the large atrium throughout the building.
The MLC Burwood team is hitting milestones completing the structure of the building mid-January. Once finished our façade subcontractor G-James has been cracking along at record pace with the glazed façade due to be completed mid-May. The feature sky-light was installed early April making the building mainly watertight.
Due to the building having no ceilings, extensive design coordination meetings have been held with all services trades to ensure the quality and aesthetically pleasing finish the architect and the school desire.
The building will be surrounded with atmosphere screens acting as an architectural feature as well as a shading device. Installation of the screens is due to commence at the start of June where they will be assembled in their 30 metre lengths on the school tennis court across the road from the site and lifted into position via the tower crane.
Internal fit-out trades have commenced with walls currently being sheeted on all five levels.
